My wife passed away mid year. Can I still file a joint return? Also when it asks for her residency as of December 31, 2018, what do I put in that answer?

Yes, you can still file a joint return.
But you'll first need to return to the Personal Info section of your program. Go through the section regarding your late wife. There should be a place there to indicate that she "passed away before filing this return".
Once you've correct that section, the question of her residency on Dec. 31 should no longer be there.
Please post back if you have further question. So sorry for your loss.
