My wife has a MAGI of $25k. My MAGI is $138K. Turbo tax is combining them giving her a MAGI $158K. How do I get turbo tax to stop adding my income to her MAGI?

For 2035, the MAGI cap is $236K for married couples for IRA deductible contributions. Turbo tax rejects our IRA contribution based on this errant MAGI. I do not understand why. Help?

There is only one MAGI on a tax return.  When Married Filing Jointly, MAGI is based on your combined income.  There is no separate MAGI for each spouse when filing MFJ.

Because the MAGI on your 2025 tax return is over $146,000, no deduction is permitted for an IRA contribution made by spouse who is covered for by a workplace retirement plan, but because MAGI is under $246,000 a spouse who is not covered by a workplace retirement plan is permitted a deduction for that spouse's IRA contribution.
