My wife filed Married Filing Separately. I tried to file Single. My return was rejected. She has mortgage interest to declare. I have capital gain loss carryover.

Should my wife amend her return changing filing status to Single?

You cannot file Single if you are married as of 12/31/2018.

If you were considered married on December 31, 2018, then you can file married filing separately or married filing jointly.
