What you list as your occupation on your return does not affect your return in any way, it's purely informational - your occupation is listed in the signature section on Page 2 of Form 1040, along with your signature, the date you signed your return and your daytime telephone number...all of this information is presumed to be current at the time you sign your return, so, while you could indicate either your old or new occupation, adding your new occupation would normally be the most current at the time. However, it's not a reason to change or correct your return.
