In TurboTax Online, follow these steps to import or manually enter an IRS form W-2.

  • Down the left side of the screen, click on Federal.
  • Down the left side of the screen, click on Wages & Income.
  • Click the down arrow to the right of Wages & Salaries.
  • Click to the right of Wages and Salaries (W-2).
  • Enter the employer ID from your W-2.  Select Continue.
  • If the employer provides a W-2 download, enter the information to download the W-2.
  • At the screen How would you like to add your W-2, you may upload a PDF, JPG or PNG of the W-2 or take a picture of the W-2 with a smartphone.
  • You may also select Type it in myself to enter the form manually.

Thank you. I already did that. My W-2 is Unqualified income and if I unclick that box, it now shows up as W2 wages. There’s a bug in TurboTax that it is subtracting Unqualified income from W-2 wages.

Just to clarify what you did.

  • Did you remove the value in Box 11?
  • Or did you un-click something else?

Did you continue through the W-2 interview.

  • Box 11 triggers a question: Did you take money out of your non-qualified pension plan.
  • Answer as appropriate
