Do you have an amount in box 4 for SS tax?   Or could you be trying to enter a 1099 in the W2 section?   If your W2 is wrong or missing info you need to ask the employer why or get a corrected W2.

And no, do not enter box 1 for SS wages.  It can be different for many reasons like 401K and medical.
