My total income on line 6 is $4000. more than the sum of lines 1-5. Can that be right?

On the new 1040 there are some lines that include amounts from the new schedules.  Like total income on line 6 won't equal lines 1-5.  There could be more income from schedule 1 to the left of line 6.

Yes, if you also had additional income on Schedule 1 then line 6 can be more than the sum of lines 1-5. Line 22 from Schedule 1 is added here as well.
