My taxes say that I’m done and are pending. But I haven’t finished them yet. They were rejected at first so I’m trying to fix them, but it’s not letting me start over.

How do I go back and fix them if there’s no option to do so? And I can’t log in to the computer because it won’t send me a verification code.

Here's how you can fix it:

Sign in to your account and select the Fix my return button. Follow any “fix it” instructions to update the information causing the rejection.

Note: Not all rejections will have explicit guides to fix the information. You’ll need to navigate to the program area to address the cause of the rejection.

Time-saving Tip: If what you originally entered is correct, you won't be able to e-file. There's probably a data mismatch at the government, a dependent that's already been claimed, or some other situation beyond your control that prevents your return from being e-filed. In this case, your only option would be to print and mail in your return. This article will give you instruction on how to print and mail your return.

Additional reject instruction here.

There is no “fix my refund” button. If there was I wouldn’t have needed to ask. There use to be one. But not any more. Now it just says they’re pending. No home button. Or start over. Or fix. Or any buttons at all. I can’t even log in on a computer.

To be able to fix your return, you need to login to your account, there will be a fix my return button, follow those instructions. You should have received an email with information on why your return was rejected.

  1. Select the Fix my return button
    • Follow any “fix it” instructions to update the information causing the rejection.

What does my rejected return code mean and how do I fix it?

A common reason that returns get rejected is when Form 1095-A is not included with the return and the IRS database  has record that you had health coverage through the marketplace.  If you did not have coverage you will have to contact Marketplace to find out what needs to be reported on your return.

Health Insurance Marketplace Statements | Internal Revenue Service

If you did have coverage and you need to report information for a Form 1095-A:

  1. Go to the Do you have Form 1095-A info ready? screen
  2. Answer the questions and enter the details from your Form 1095-A
  3. When you’re done, select File from the left menu and continue through to re-file your return
