“Ready to mail”or “Printed”  means that your tax return has not been filed.  Either you could not e-file for some reason , or you chose to file by mail.  OR if you really did already mail your return, the software does not have any way to know that you put your return in an envelope and took it to a mailbox, so it will always say “ready to mail” in your online account.

TurboTax does not mail your return for you.  You have to print it, sign it, and mail it yourself.  When you mail a tax return, you need to sign it where it says "Sign Here" and write in the date you signed it by the word "Date".  Attach copies of your W-2 and any other documents that show taxes withheld to the left side of the papers where it says "Attach Forms..."

When you print your return, it will print with filing instructions that tell you where to mail it.  Pay careful attention to the address you mail your return to —federal and state returns do not get mailed to the same place.

It is not required, but is a good idea, to use a mailing service that will track your return or provide you with a receipt showing that the IRS got it--such as Fedex, UPS, or certified mail.  It will take about 4 weeks and then you can track the status of your return at the IRS website.

You can print your return by following the instructions below

I've had my taxes done and have been told to mail them.  Neither I nor my roommate ever had to mail them back.  We're on disability so we are non-filers,  why do we need to send this in?

Turbotax does not mail your returns. you may have tried to file it before it was accepting 2021 returns.  you should be able to go back to the return. go through the review process. if there are errors or issues they will need to be corrected or you won't be able to e-file. for some issues you may have to wait for the program to be updated.  anyway once through the review process without errors or issues you should get to a page where you can select between mailing and e-filing.   if you select e-filing you'll get to a page  with an orange icon that will allow you to transmit your return.  right now e-filing is not open so clicking on transmit will send the return to Turbotax servers where it will sit until e-filing opens. once it opens Turbotax will transmit the return.  then you need to wait for e-mails.  the first will tell you if it was successfully transmitted.  if yes, then there will be a second e-mail which will say accepted or rejected. accepted and you're done rejected means there's an issue that needs to be corrected. if you post the error message we may be able to help you fix the return. then you will have to go through the process again to e-file. again you will get the e-mails as to successfully transmitted and accepted/rejected.

should you get an e-mail saying that it wasn't successfully transmitted post back with any message as to why and we may be able to help you fix that issue.

If you are non-filers then why are you trying to file an income tax return with zero taxable income on them ???

Hi. 2019 when our Stimulus money was getting started the IRS advised those on SSA  to file even though we didn't make enough.  The next year same thing and this year we were told to file incase of a 4th Stimulus check.

My taxes said that it was ready to mail so do turbo tax mail my returns through the website?

Ok ... to get the first 2 stimulus payments there was a non filer tool.   If you missed either or both of the first 2 stimulus payments you had to file a 2020 return which could be done if you had no taxable income and an amount on line 30 for the credit.  A 2020 return must now be mailed in.

For the third stimulus payment ... if you did not get it then you need to file a 2021 return to get the credit on line 30 ... again no income is required to efile it.

There has been a lot of talk about a possible 4th stimulus payment but nothing is final on that front.  If you are on SS then you should be getting the stimulus payments automatically ... a return is not needed.
