My tax return was rejected. Now I am passed the deadline. I paid $30 when I originally filed. Can you tell me why my return was rejected and how to fix this? Thank you

My return was rejected due to difference in AGI (Adjusted Gross Income).  Print your return, sign and date, include copies of your 1099, W-2.  If you owe money include your check, if you are due a refund, no penalty.  Mail to IRS office addressed to the state where you file.

You can't e-file a 2016 any more so the reason it was rejected is not really an issue any more.  Print your return, sign it and mail it in.
