My tax return was denied because I did not add the 1095-A form for market place health insurance, but I have private insurance through employment. What am I doing wrong?

You must have answered that you got insurance from the Marketplace.

If you or someone on your return had Marketplace insurance last year, that info may have carried over to this year's return, populating Form 1095-A.  If this applies, you may need to follow these steps:

  • Click Deductions and Credits
  • Scroll down to Medical and Click Show More
  • Click Start or Revisit next to the ACA
  • As you walk through the questions, you will be asked if you received a 1095-A.  If you did NOT, click YES.
  • Enter 0's for the Marketplace identifier and Policy number.
  • Enter $1 for January monthly premium amount and SLCSP
  • Walk through to the end and submit your return.

You don't need to make any entry for your Employer Insurance.

If this does not apply, and you're using TurboTax Online, in the left-side menu, choose Tax Tools > Tools and then Delete a Form from the pop-up menu.

In the list of forms in your return, look for Form 1095-A and Delete it from the button at the right side of the page.

Then clear your Cache and Cookies and Efile again.

If you're using TurboTax Desktop, go to FORMS at the upper right, and delete Form 1095-A, using the Delete button at the bottom of the form as you view it.
