My tax liability skyrocketed when I entered my wife's State Employee W-2. Since Federal wages don't match state wages in that case, is there another process?

The Federal Wages and the State Wages don't match on my wife's W-2.  Could this be a problem trying to file with TurboTax?

This is a common occurrence when entering additional Forms W-2.

Please see the TurboTax FAQ "Why did my refund drop when I entered a second W-2?" below for a good explanation.

I understand the refund going down or even disappearing altogether - but to go from $1200 refund to $4000 tax liability with a W-2 with wages <$60K?

Check for missing or misplaced decimal point.  Did she have enough federal withholding taken out?  Last year they reduced the withholding tables so you got more in your paychecks all year.

I understand that - but the withholding seems to be in line with the Federal Wages (comparing to my W-2).  I may need to file an extension and take this to a professional to get this correct.  This is the fourth year in a row that this has happened.
