My stepdaughter has a different last name. Can she file on my Turbo Tax program. She is not a dependent.

My stepdaughter has a different last name and is not my dependent.  Since she has a different last name my TurboTax program won't let me prepare her taxes.  Can she use my program?

If you are using the TurboTax online web based editions you need to create a new account with a new User ID to start another tax return - https://turbotax.intuit.com/personal-taxes/online/

If you are using the TurboTax desktop CD/Download editions with the software installed on your personal computer, to start a new tax return click on the File menu at the upper left of the desktop program screen.  Then click on New Tax Return.

When she starts a new tax return on my CD program, it asks for her first name, but it does not ask for her last name.  Her last name is different from mine.  The program assumes we have the same last name.  Can she file her taxes on my CD program?

When first starting a tax return the program will ask for a first name.  Continue entering the information requested and there will be a screen to enter the Last Name and Social Security number.
