My state website says that I overpaid by $4122 but turbotax says my refund is only $858, why is there such a disparity?

TurboTax refund amount is just an estimate. Your state revenue department will make the final calculations and approve the amount. Did you enter the exact same information into your state's website that you entered into TurboTax?

I entered all information except the fact that I bought my first house. The tax info was all still there, but there was no option to identify as a first time home buyer like there used to be.  I went back and looked several times but no luck.

Without reviewing the documents to determine the differences we cannot provide an answer to that question.  However, you might want to print both returns TurboTax and a State transcript to identify difference.  Also, you should receive a notice in the mail from the state explaining why the amount filed will be adjusted.  You can also call the state to determine why the difference.
