My state is not listed in box 15 of my 1099-INT form and it won’t let me submit it if I leave it blank . What do I do?

Enter your state abbreviation, the federal EIN can be used for the state number without any dash, then the interest amount if it is not tax free income to your state, even if you are not required to file your state return. Examples of tax free interest for your state would be municipal bond interest or state bond interest.

IF there are no actual $$ in box 17, then you need to leave boxes 15, 16 (ID number), 17 entirely blank.
