My state ID/driver's license is not required by my state (IL). Why then is TurboTax forcing me to list it?

According to TurboTax's own HELP member, IL does not require an ID/License number.  Your response says just the opposite.  Both cannot be correct.  How do we proceed?

Two states, Illinois and Alabama, do require a driver's license to file a state return.

If you are having trouble entering your Illinois ID, see below: 

Do not  enter any special characters such as a * or a period. 

• Enter the license number and use any numbers and/or letters but do not enter any special characters such as - or * or spaces. 

• The message is trying to stop the entry of any special characters or spaces and several states don't have only numbers. Please be sure there are no extra spaces at the beginning or the end.
