No. You may not claim him as a dependent if he was 29, even if he was a full-time student.

 

Once someone is 24 or older, student status no longer matters.

 

He could be a qualifying relative, however, if:

 

  • He lived with you all year
  • You provided over half of his support
  • His gross income was below $5,200 for 2025

No. You may not claim him as a dependent if he was 29, even if he was a full-time student.
