My son married a non-resident alien in 2018. She has a social security card and is a student. Can they file married, filing jointly? She was in the US all year.

Yes, they can file married filing jointly.

The only problem they may encounter is if your son's wife has not changed her name with the Social Security Department.

If she has not changed her name she should use her name as shown on her social security card.

She is not required to change her name to file jointly.
