My return was rejected due to my wife’s name not matching her social. Was I supposed to file under her maiden name? We got married September 2017.

You will file using the name on record with the Social Security Administration.   The IRS matches the name and social security number on your return with the social security records.  They do not match the name on the W-2 forms with the tax return itself, they match by SSN. 

You can go back to your tax return and go to My Info in the left side panel. This will allow you to correct the name.
