My return keeps being rejected, it says that my daughter is already being claimed, I asked my ex wife and she did not claim her. How do I fix this?

If you are sure no one has claimed her, and she didn't file a tax return for herself (assuming she is old enough to know how), you should call the IRS.  They will be able to tell if someone used her name and social security number on another tax return and help you.  You can call 1-800-829-1040.  The wait times may be long.  You can also try this number 1-800-908-4490. 

  • Telephone service wait times are higher on Monday and Tuesday, during Presidents Day weekend and around the April tax filing deadline.
