My return is simple. why is turbo tax telling me i need the delux version because i paid excess ss. My total income was $19263 and i paid $553 in ss taxes?

This is most likely an entry error.

Go back into your W-2s and make sure that you've entered Box 4, Social security tax withheld, correctly.

To review your Form W-2 wages and salaries in TurboTax Online:

1. If you don’t see 2022 TAXES in the left pane, select the dropdown to the right of Income & Expenses on the Hi, let’s keep working on your taxes! page and then select Let’s get started, Pick up where you left off, or Review/Edit. 
   • Otherwise, in the left pane, select Wages & Income
2. Scroll down to Job (W-2) and select Edit/Add to the right
3. Select  Edit to the right of your first W-2 shown
4. Go to the second screen, and make sure that Box 4, Social Security tax withheld, matches that W-2.  Enter any changes necessary, then select  Continue
5. If you have more W-2s, repeat this process

If you can't get it fixed then try deleting your W2 and re enter it.  That may clear it out.  How many W2s did you get?  Is the amount in box 3 the same as box 1 or less?
