my quarterly estimated payments were not included by turbotax in my return but this was caught by IRS. It appears I am due an additional amount of $2000

IRS caught this and wrote me that there was no entry on line 26. I sent proof of payments but am still waiting for a refund and now Turbotax wants to be paid for their incorrect service.

Estimated tax payments are not entered automatically, even if they were generated using 2024 TurboTax. It has no way to know they were actually paid or in what amounts, since taxpayers can manually change the amounts after printing. Thus, entry of these payments was your responsibility.

Thanks, that's true and a good lesson.  But given all the prompts in the TurboTax program, why didn't they ask the question - 'Did you make any estimated quarterly tax payments?'   Anyway, the full refund has now gone through so everything is good.
