Do you have a TurboTax Online account?

We'll help you get started or pick up where you left off.

My PC won't let me save to the TurboTax folder I just created for this year's taxes. It tells me I need administrator rights. I am the administrator.

I tried removing read-only properties from this folder and all sub-folders, but it did not retain this setting.

Try removing the TurboTax folder you created and let the TurboTax program create the folder when you save the tax data file.  TurboTax will save all tax data files and saved PDF's, by default, in the TurboTax folder within the Documents directory.

DoninGA,

To clarify, I didn’t create my own folder.
This the default folder that TurboTax created when I installed the software:
C:\Program Files\TurboTax\Individual 2023

Now I am not being allowed to save to the folder that TurboTax created when I start a new tax file from the previous year.

Please advise.

To be clear - You started the 2023 TurboTax program.  You started a new 2023 tax return and transferred the 2022 tax data to the 2023 return.  After transferring the 2022 tax data to the 2023 return, did you actually enter any tax data or personal information in the 2023 return?  If you did then did you click on File at the top left of the desktop program screen and click on Save?  If so, and this failed, have you tried using the Save as... link and name the file to see if that will save?

Check the "user" account on the computer ... does your user have administrator rights?  When you installed the computer the user account where it was installed had to have administrator rights.
