My parents tax return was rejected because of my return. I stated I was a dependent so I don't know why?

I received stimulus payments and I should not if I am a dependent. I need to return this money but am unsure how to proceed.

Your parents return would be rejected if you claimed yourself as independent which you should have been a dependent. That sounds like what happened since you received a stimulus payment.

File an amended return showing you are claimed as a dependent and pay back the Recovery Rebate Credit with your amended return.
