If Social Security disability was your only income, you are not eligible for any refundable child-related credits.   Those credits are based on having W-2 income or self-employment income.

It depends.  If you are referring to social security disability and you are not married, then there is no reason to file.  You must have earned income for the children to be of any benefit on your tax return.

 

If you are referring to income from a 1099-R from a plan that was from your job then the amount will determine if you need to file.
