My mother in law lived with us for 1/2 the year and isn't working. Can I claim her as a dependent? However, she did work the 1st 1/2 of the year in a different state.

she moved in July 1st from Kansas to North Carolina.

Is she married? Did she have 2017 income of her own?

You cannot claim her as a dependent on your tax return since her gross income is $4,050 or more.
