My mom passed away before we submitted their 2018 return. Can we still submit using her ID (last stage of validation) or is there a different process?

Yes, you can still e-file for your mother.

You can use her final ID.

Before you file, make sure the Social Security Administration has been notified of the taxpayer's death. 

You can either go to their website or call 1-800-772-1213.
