Make sure that your W-2 is only entered 1 time on the federal return and review your state boxes (15-20). Make sure you have entered everything exactly as it is on your W-2. If you have made a lot of changes, you may want to remove your state return and start it over.
For MA state returns - - Residents and part-year residents are required to file if gross income from all sources is more than $8,000. So, if your income is properly reported at $5K, you do not need to file a MA state return.
