My husband passed away last year. How do I file the return? Do I still list him as primary and myself spouse?

Please accept my condolences for the loss of your husband! The IRS allows the surviving spouse to file as married filing jointly for the year that their spouse passed on. So for 2016 you may file as married filing jointly.  When entering your information in the Personal Info section at the top right of your screen, make sure to check the box next to the line that reads Widowed for your filing status, (see below).  Then the program will ask you about your deceased husband and the date that he passed.

Let's confirm your marital status

Review your answer below and we'll recommend the best filing status later.
On December 31, 2016, you were:
Single
Married
Divorced
Legally separated
Widowed

Turbotax will walk you through everything else.  Please let us know if we can help you in any way!
