So sorry for your loss. You need to create your own account with your own user ID. It is too difficult to remove the "spouse" information from an account that has been used for past joint returns. Your filing status for 2025 will be Single, unless you have a qualified dependent child. If so, you can file as a qualified surviving spouse for two years after your spouse passed.

Sorry for your loss. I lost my husband in 2023 too. Are you filing a 2024 return or how did you file 2024? You needed to set up a new account for yourself. If you need to file 2024 now you need to use the Desktop installed program. To do a prior year return you have to buy the Desktop program here,

You will need Windows 10 or Mac Ventura 13 to install it on.
You can file a Joint return as normal for 2023. For the next two years following a husband's or wife's death, the surviving spouse can file as a qualifying widow or widower if they have a qualifying child. That basically lets you continue to use the same tax brackets that apply to married-filing-jointly returns. After the year of death if you don't have a child you file as Single and have to start over with a new return and new account. And don't transfer from the Joint return.
