My husband did not have any income last year how do i qualify myself as? married filing jointly, or head of household?

or just married and add him as dependent he was at another country and I supported him during part of the year.

My husband did not have any income last year how do i qualify myself as? married filing jointly, or head of household?

Your best bet is married filing jointly as he will be an additional exemption on your tax return with no additional income.

To qualify for Head of Household you would need to meet the following qualifications:

  • Pay for more than half of the household expenses
  • Be considered unmarried for the tax year, and
  • You must have a qualifying child or dependent.

Some of these terms, such as "considered unmarried" and "qualifying child or dependent" may seem a bit confusing, but the IRS has provided a series of guidelines to help taxpayers understand whether or not they qualify to file as head of household.
