My husband and I file separate and live under separate roofs right now, why does form still ask for husband's info?

If you are married and filing a separate return, the IRS needs to know the Social Security number of your spouse.

For separate returns, if one spouse itemizes deductions, the other spouse must also itemize, and the IRS will match the returns to ensure that this is done correctly.
