My granddaughter age 17 at end of year has healthcare, Obama care on her fathers plan. How do I answer health care questions. She is full time high school student.

My granddaughter age 17 at end of year has healthcare, Obama care on her fathers plan. How do I answer health care questions. She is full time high school student.

As long as you had healthcare for the entire year (not through the ObamaCare) then you should follow the steps below: 

  1. Select Federal Taxes and then Health Insurance

  2. When you come to screen "Did you have health insurance coverage in 2016?". You should select "We all had health insurance coverage all year (if that is true)". 

  3. The next screen will ask "Was anyone enrolled in these less common plans in 2016?",?you should select "No" there unless you do have a 1095-A to enter. In that case, you would select the appropriate plan and enter your 1095-A.

That will complete the Health Insurance section and allow you to move on in your return.
