My federal tax return for 2017 says accepted, however I never received it. I did however receive both state. This year I went to a professional and she too is confused.

Best thing to do is for you to contact the IRS since your return was filed and accepted and your refund was never received by you. If the IRS did send your refund and you never got it they will be able to let you know what they need to issue you another one. If there is more information that is needed from you, they will be able to tell you what it is.
