My federal tax payment has not shown up on my bank statement. How do I find out if I entered the right information?

If you filed right before (or on) the busy April 15, 2019 deadline, the IRS may not be able to debit your payment until after the deadline, due to high e-filing volume. In addition, it can take your bank another few days to post the debit to your account.

I did file on the 16th and there has been no debit to my account.

It depends. 

The IRS issues a lot of refunds within 21 days, but it could take longer.
