My federal refund in 2015 was applied to 2016 estimate. How do I enter the funds as a tax payment?

If you used TurboTax in 2015 to complete your income tax return, TurboTax will automatically carryover your refund information to your 2016 income tax return.

If you did not use TurboTax in 2015 and have to enter the amount manually, please see the following instructions:

  • Type estimates paid in the search bar and click search.
  • Click on Jump to estimates paid.
  • On the Estimates and Other Taxes Paid section, scroll down to 2015 Refund Applied to 2016.
  • Choose 2015 refund applied to 2016 federal taxes or 2015 refund applied to 2016 state taxes or 2015 refund applied to 2016 local taxes and click Start.
  • Enter the amount(s).
