My federal and state returns were rejected for incorrect prior year AGI. I fixed it and refiled, but still get a later msg about the same error.

Try using 0 for your AGI. This will sometimes work if your 2017 tax return was filed late in the tax year and the IRS database does not yet have your actual AGI.
