My ex girlfriend has custody of daughter but i paid over 5,000.00 in child support i was told i could claim. where do i add that?

Whoever told you that was incorrect.  Child support payments are NOT deductible by the payer nor taxable to the recipient.

when i was looking for tax sites it said anything over 5,000 gave you a 1,200 credit
