My employment started on December 19, 2022. I received my first paycheck on January 2, 2023. Will I get a W-2 for 2022?

Or is it based on when you get paid rather than employment date?

Ask your employer to be certain, but most likely you will not get a W-2 from that employer until next year when they issue 2023 W-2's.
