My employer withheld 1250 for child care but I was not able to use it before account was closed. Is there anything I can do to remove this for taxes?

It is deducting this amount from my child care credit.

In your return,  after you enter your W-2 information, you will be asked about your flexible spending amount.  After completing the below steps, the program will no longer deduct your FSA amount.

  1. After you enter your W-2 information
  2. Click Continue on the page Do any of these common situations apply this W-2
  3. The next page asks Did your employer provide child or dependent care on-site at your workplace. Answer Yes of No then click continue
  4. Next page is Did you have a Flexible Spending Account to pay for child care
  5. Click yes and the next page will ask you the leftover unused amount of your FSA account

If you do not see these questions when you go to edit your W-2, you may need to reenter your W-2.
