In order to report the corrected W-2, you will need to amend your return with Form 1040X.
This should reduce your tax due or increase your refund.
Wait until you’ve either received your refund or the IRS has taken payment out of your account. (The IRS will only accept a 1040X, or amended return if your original 1040 was accepted.)

Thanks for reply! Is there anyway to not file the corrected and just leave it the way it is or is that illegal. I think the irs is getting the better end of the deal but im not sure
I would recommend amending the return to add in the corrected W-2. Your employer has already sent the W-2c to the IRS, and the IRS will be looking to see if your return matches. If there is a mismatch, this could trigger unnecessary correspondence from the IRS.
