For tax year 2025 there is nothing you can do.

For tax year 2026 you should complete and give your employer a state withholding form similar to the federal form W-4

You are still responsible for paying the tax owed directly to your state when you file your return, even if your employer did not withhold state taxes.

 

Contact your payroll department immediately to submit an updated Form W-4 to start withholding, as the responsibility to pay the tax remains with you even if the employer fails to deduct it.
