My dependent student child has two 1095-A forms but when I am in the section of Deductions to input 1095-A her name isn't in the dropdown menu of who the form belongs to

I uploaded PDFs of her forms into documents already but how do I assign them to her?

If your child is your dependent, it belongs to you.

Don't worry, that information is not part of the tax return, so I'm not even sure why TurboTax even asks that question.

DOH!  I didn't read closely enough, the forms are for dependent health insurance,  but they actually came with our names on the top so they're meant to be input under our names, not hers.  Updating to clarify in case anybody else has a problem.  If they had been only in her name, per TurboTax assist she would have to file her own taxes to be able to reconcile the premium tax credits etc.

If she was was your dependent, that is completely wrong and it would still go on your tax return.

I was able to put my son's name on the recipient's line by going to forms and opening the 1095-A there.  I have no idea how critical it is that it be there, but I'm glad I could do it.

I was also taken aback that his name wasn't on the drop down menu.

You are correct, in TurboTax Desktop, you could use Forms mode and type their information on the form 1095-A as the covered individual.

If you are using TurboTax Online, when the program asks who the policy belongs to, you can leave that box blank, do not select anyone.  The IRS matches the forms based on the Marketplace identifier to match the form with the correct person. This will not affect your return because she is listed as a dependent.  When you enter the 1095-A, leave the box that asks who the 1095-A belongs to blank.  The IRS will match the form to your son, based on the policy number.  To go back to this section in TurboTax:

  1. Open or continue your return.
  2. Navigate to the 1095-A section:
    • TurboTax Online/Mobile: Go to 1095-A.
    • TurboTax Desktop: Search for 1095-a, then select the Jump to link.
