My dependent earned $3000 from a job and paid $260 in taxes she bought a car with her earnings. should she file a return if i have her as a dependent?

Your dependent may wish to file a tax return, as she may be able to get some or all of the federal and/or state withholdings back.

If you claim her, she will still be able to file her own tax returns.  When she does, it is crucial that she indicates that she can be claimed by someone else and that that person (you) is claiming her.  Please see screenshot below.
