Do you have a TurboTax Online account?

We'll help you get started or pick up where you left off.

My dependent daughter filed as independent so my taxes were rejected. She fixed hers and paid the taxes owed. I've refiled and it is still rejected.

TT suggested I get a. IP-PIN which I did, but I cannot find where to add it. Will this clear the return to get accepted?

You can add the IP PIN:

If you have a 6 digit PIN issued to you by the IRS you need to enter it in order to e-file.  Go to Federal>Other Tax Situations>Other Return Info>Identity Protection PIN and enter the six-digit PIN.

But if that does not work to let you e-file you will need to file by mail.   Sadly, when a dependent makes the very common mistake that yours made, the parent is blocked from e-filing and has no remedy other than to file by mail.

When you mail a tax return, you need to attach any documents showing tax withheld, such as your W-2’s or any 1099’s.  Use a mailing service that will track it, such as certified mail so you will know the IRS/state received the return.
