My actual federal refund received is approx. $1,000 smaller that stated at the of my return. Is this a mistake, or normal?

IF the amount was a TOTAL, for both Fed and State...then you the other $$ haven't been released from the state.

If the amount was just for Federal...then you'd have to wait for a letter in the mail from the IRS which might tell you why they changed it...and what you would need to do if you disagree. 

(It will be Snail-Mail on paper only....scammers have been using emails and texts to cheat people)
