My 16 yo grandaughter is entitled to a tax refund. Can she use turbotax herself under my account, or does she have to make an account of her own?

Each online account can only prepare one tax return.  She will need a separate account, and will have to pay a separate fee unless she qualifies to file for free.  Families will often find it is more cost effective to buy Turbotax as a CD or download and install it on their own computer, since the desktop version can prepare multiple tax returns.

If she requires a more complex form than Free allows (such as self-employment), but her income is under $34,000, she can use the "Freedom edition", which includes complicated forms not normally included in the "regular" free version of Turbotax. The IRS requires it to be a separate web site. https://turbotax.intuit.com/taxfreedom/
