Mother dependable made 6k on 1099 can I claim her?

My mother who has terminal cancer received a 1099 from an old employer it shows she made 6k last year . Can I still claim her? I have always claimed her in the past. If I don’t add 1099 will irs contact me ?

Employers don't send 1099s...they send W2s     what did she do to receive this income?

She was an independent contractor

No you can not claim her, sorry.  She had over $4,150 income.  Did she have income the years you claimed her?

She has to file her own return for it.  She will have to use the Online Self Employed version or any Desktop program.  She will owe self employment tax on the Net Profit after expenses.  Do you need help filing her return?

The Online version is only good for 1 return. But you can use the same email address for 5 accounts.  To do another return you have to set up a new account and new user name and pay any fees again.
