Most likely yes, a Correctional officer/employee would be considered a Public Safety Officer as long as you are responsibile for public safety and/or share the responsibilities of a Correctional Officer. 

The scope of the Correctional Officer position correlates with public safety, which has the primary goal of protecting the public and keeping them safe.
