MICROSOFT WILL NOW EXTEND WINDOWS 10 SUPPORT FOR FREE IN EUROPE, PRESSURE MOUNTING FOR U.S.

"Windows 10's extended support updates (ESU) program is now free in the European Economic Area, as Microsoft has revised the requirements for access to continued security updates throughout 2026."

There are no conditionals other than logging into a Microsoft account at least once every 60 days, and even if a user fails to do that, they can still log in after 60 days and remain eligible.

There is mounting pressure from consumer advocacy groups for Microsoft to do the same in the U.S.

Numerous articles online about these recent developments, feel free to research.

Hopefully Intuit has in place contigency plans for TurboTax 2025 to support Windows 10...

ESU is extended "security" updates, not extended support, other than the cost of ESU, nothing has changed for Win 10 end of support.  See what happens next few weeks, but whether it costs you $30 or $0 probably doesn't change anything for Intuit, desktop s/w is 1% of their revenue declining 5% annually while everything else they do is growing 10%.

Sorry but IMO it sounds like splitting hairs and deflecting from the issue.

Security support is indeed extending support to the extent of keeping Windows 10 entirely viable.  Furthermore the main concern cited by Intuit in their announcement for dropping Windows 10 is security concerns due to the lack of security support by Microsoft going forward.  If Inuit's REAL reason is instead a business decision (as some people on the forum are SPECULATING) then Intuit should come out and say they don't value their desktop customers enough to support TT2025 on Windows 10.
